In Memory of Harold Rankin--Harold vick Rankin, the sonof Harry and Florence Jones Rankin, was born in Marion County, Iowa on June 3, 1909 and entered into rest at the Iowa Methodist Medical center in Des Moines on January 2, 1981 at the age of 71 years. Mr. Rankin had worked in the coal mines of Marion County for many years before going to the Maytag Company. He retired from Maytag in 1964. Surviving are his wife; Myra, ten children; Mrs. Arnold (Darlene) Palm, bondurant; Mrs. Alfred (Judy) Brungardt, Monroe; Mrs. Larry (Faye) Nicholson, Knoxville; Mrs. Tom (Shirley) Caberea, Mason City; Chuck Rankin, Monroe; Mrs. Phil (Margaret) Ball, Angelton, Texas; Jerald Rankin, Knoxville; Dean Rankin, Pella; Bobbi Rankin, Monroe; and Carolyn Brady, Knoxville, 21 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers Leo Rankin, Des Moines; Donald Rankin, Riverside Calif., a sister, Mrs. Nita McDonald, Ames; a half brother Jack Rankin of Des Moines and a half sister Mrs. Barbara Allison, Newton and other relatives including a cousin, with whom he was raised; Mrs. Geren Voss, Knoxville. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother Merle and an infant grand daughter.

Harold was first married to Mae Bethel Davis (1913-1985) daughter of Ona Francis Davis Johnson Davis and Bessie Teresa Long, on November 12, 1932 in Knoxville, Iowa. They had three children. They divorced. Mae later married William E. Staley.
