Jack Rankin passed away August 2, 2016 at the age of 80.

Jack Rankin was born August 7, 1935 to Harry and Eulala Mae Rankin in Melcher-Dallas, Iowa. He graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School in 1954.

On April 18, 1955, Jack was enlisted in the United States Army. Jack served in the Army until April of 1958.

Jack was united in marriage to Phyllis Hubbell. He became the proud stepfather of three children: Michael “Mike”, Richard “Dick”, and Mary.

Jack worked all of his life in construction.

When he wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time with Phyllis and their family. He also loved spending time outdoors; fishing and working around the yard.

Jack was a lover of sports, especially football and basketball. He was a good cook and he enjoyed going out to eat. He always looked forward to getting together with good friends. Jack was generous of his time and was always helping his family, friends, and neighbors.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Rankin; sons, Mike Coffin and Dick Coffin; and sister, Barbara Davis.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Mary Clark; sister-in-law, Ginny Hetherington (John); niece, Holly Collins (Chuck); 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews and Carl Cataldo, who was like a son to him.
