Susanna was born Nov. 3, 1881 in Gilbertville, Iowa to Nicholas and Catherine (Weires) Hanten. She married Jacob Hoven on Neb. 14, 1906 in White Lake, South Dakota. To this union 9 children were born.
Jacob and Susanna farmed in the White Lake, Stickney and Plankinton, South Dakota areas. Due to an asthma problem, they moved to Wisconsin in 1920. While there they farmed, and Jacob worked for and retired from the Milwaukee Railroad.
Susanna is survived by her husband, Jacob; three sons, Nicholas, Bernard and Herman; three daughters, Marie, Armella and Adaline; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Eva and Genevieve; and one son, Peter.
