L. E. Cole received a telegram Friday, from his brother, Will, at Boise, Idaho, that their father could not recover and that their mother was very low. Mr. Cole left on 42 that day to be at the bedside of his parents. Mrs. [Susie] E. C. House had intended to go on the next train, but a second telegram to her stated that her parents were both better and hopes of their recovery was entertained. But on Monday she received another telegram that her mother was dead and she left for Boise Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Cole were residents of this city for a number of years and are well and favorable known by a large number of people in this vicinity. They were in the neighborhood of eighty years old.

Family trees often confuse her with Amanda Lovina Sweet of Sangamon County, Illinois and Dallas County, Texas. Ms. Amanda Sweet became the wife of Rev. William Benjamin Cole. Her parents Rev. Levi and Lucy Sweet are buried in the same cemetery as her in Texas, as seen on the memorial marker pictured on her son Benjamin's FindAGrave page.

The following documents all show her maiden name as Bailey:

The following are proofs of the latter Amanda's maiden name being Bailey, not Sweet.

1. 1940 California Death index of daughter Susie Idora House. Informant is probably her daughter Adella House Tierney.

2. 1912 Idaho death certificate of daughter Mary Adda McGuffey where brother William was the informant.

3. 1854 marriage record in Macoupin County, Illinois. (Mis-indexed as Macon County in some indexes.) Macoupin County is where both lived in the 1850 and 1860 censuses. (The other Coles were married in Menard County which borders Sangamon County where they were both living in the 1850 census.)

4. Middle name of son Frederick "Fred" is Bailey per his World War I Draft registration. It was very common at the time to give a son his mother's maiden name as his middle name.
