Elizabeth Roahrig Dead
After a long suffering, Mrs Roahrig, wife of Frederick Roahrig, Sr, died last Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs George Kaufman, near Wills Creek, Coshocton County, of a complication of illnesses. Elizabeth Lapp was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Lapp and was born 26 August 1832. On the 6th day of April 1849 she was married to Frederick Roahrig who survives her, and mourns the loss of his Faithful and affectionate wife who has been his companion for more than half a century. Ten children were the result of this union but four of these preceded her to the grave. The other six, five sons and one daughter are left to mourn the death of their mother. The deceased was a woman of great energy, being born in the pioneer days of this country, she very early began to fight the battles of life for herself. But not not withstanding the duties that devolved upon her in early life. She was not unmindful of her creator and at an early age united with the Lutheran Church in which organization she remained a faithful member until her death. As a wife and mother she was kind, affectionate and industrious, as a neighbor she commanded the respect of all who knew her, and as a member of the church she was exemplary in attendance and other duties of the church. Besides the six children who survive her there are twenty one grand children and three great grand children. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, by Rev H H Bachman at the Zion Church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place.
