PONCE - Joseph A. Ponce, 87, died Jul 6, 1991. A native of Jacksonville, he was a retired bartender, was a jockey for 17 years and also trained thoroughbred horses.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Fr. John Nacca, officiating. The vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4315 Main St. Internment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Ponce was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #221 who will conduct graveside rites.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Ponce. They were re-married in 1958 at Immaculate Conception Church.
Other survivors include his brother, Horace Ponce of Las Vegas, NV; cousins, Mary Lubisi of Jacksonville and Buddy and Patrick Ponce of Tampa, FL.
