--Son of Jonathan DeWeese & wife Rachel Marchant. He was 6th of their 9 children.
The family moved from Kent County, Delaware to Caswell (now Person) County, North Carolina in 1772.
--Isaiah moved his family to Cabarrus County in 1800. Moving along with him was his brother Hezekiah Dewese & his family. Hezekiah's family settled close by, but just over the line in Mecklenburg County.

--Isaiah was married in 1788 to Rebecca Barnett. They had 14 children, all of whom lived to adulthood.
