George F. Clark, lifetime resident of this community, died unexpectedly at his home 405 East Sixth Street, early Wednesday, May 29. Merle Lavoie, who was returning to his home about 5 oclock Wednesday morning after working all night, discovered the body of Mr. Clark who had fallen just outside his front door. City Policeman Harry Sterling was called, and he in turn called Judge A. M. Cherington, acting as coroner and they pronounced Mr. Clark had died from natural causes. Mr. Clark lived alone, but had been visited by his children Tuesday evening, and they said he had not complained of not feeling well.
George F. Clark was born Jan 7, 1875 at Talmo, the son of Shem and Mary Clark, and was 85 years old. He was married to Miss Dollie Pearce, February 23, 1916 at Hollis. The couple farmed near Talmo until moving to Concordia in 1959
Surviving are his wife, two sons Ivan Clark of Concordia and Thaine Clark of Hays; three daughters Bernice, Mrs. Arthur Avery, of Topeka, Carolyn, Mrs. Lowell Swenson, of Concordia, and Marilyn, Mrs. Robert Hofflinger, of Glasco; one sister Mrs. Iva Clark, of Concordia; and nine grandchildren. Mr. Clark was a brother of Mrs. Laura King who preceded him in death on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two oclock at the Talmo Methodist Church and burial will take place in the Zion Cemetery.
