Memorial service for Peggy M. Jay, 86, Floresville, Texas, are Saturday at Swan Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Jay died Nov. 14, 1999, in Floresville, Texas. She was born March 19, 1913, in Henrietta to Bailey A. & Alvira Brown Morse. She traveled throughout Oklahoma & Texas in the early days of the oil field before her family settled in south Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stratford, the Vanoss Chapter of Extension Homemakers & a lifetime member of the Alice, Texas Chapter of the Eastern Star. In August 1937, she married John E. Jay in Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon retirement the couple moved to Oklahoma residing north of Center. He preceded her in death in 1992. Survivors include four sons, John O. Jay, Houston, Texas, James R. Jay, Floresville, Texas, Joe W. Jay, Stratford, Okla., & Fred A. Jay, Austin, Texas; a sister Elna Biggs, Cuero, Texas; her stepmother, Mary Morse, Austin Texas; two half-brothers, Jery Morse, Austin, Texas & Charles Morse of California; nine grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren.
