Gelator Nelson Alexander died Tuesday, June 12, 1990 in Wagoner. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. a Union Baptist Church in Wagoner, with Rev. George Washington and Rev. Devoy Hill officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Shipman-Floyd Funeral Home.
She was born June 28, 1917 in Cooper, Texas to Frank and Rosie Walker. She united with The First Baptist Church, Wagoner. She was married to Jess Nelson, and the couple had three children. Her husband and one son preceded her in death.
She later married A. L. Alexander and moved to Wagoner. She was a member of Sandtown Baptist Church, where she worked faithfully, and later united with Union Baptist Church, Wagoner. She worked faithfully in the church, served on the Board of Motherhood and worked with the Missionary Society. She also served as church treasurer.
She is survived by her husband, A. L. Alexander, of the home; two daughters, Wilma Jean Goins and Betty Jane Hall of Wagoner; three step-daughters, Evelyn and Rosetta of Tulsa, and Dorothy of Claremore; four step-sons, Charles, A. L., Jr., and Tommy, all of Tulsa and Monroe of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Lillie Clark of Ypsilanti, Michigan; eleven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
