Jeptha Prouty, an old settler of South Wayne, aged 76 years, died very suddenly on Saturday morning. His wife left him in bed and went to build the fire, and on her return to awaken him she found him dead.
He leaves a wife and a family of grown-up children, seven boys and three girls.
The funeral occurred Tuesday at 10 o'clock. He was a good and highly respected citizen.
