She was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Pinckneyville, the daughter of Harley and Myrtle (Rackley) Beard.She married Mack E. Ward on Jan. 24, 1942, in Perryville, Mo. He preceded her in death April 7, 1998.Mrs. Ward enjoyed camping and was a past member of A WA WE GO Camping Tribe of Du Quoin and Shawnee Sams Camping Club of Benton.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth E. and Reiko Ward of Seabeck, Wash., Harold E. and Patricia Ward of Texico, Ronald M. and Sandra Ward of Vergennes, David E. and Candice Ward of Whittington and Dale E. and Vickie Ward of Akin; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Harold Ward of Akin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Anita Beard of Marion and Robert and Donna Beard of Holts Summit, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Beard of St. Ann, Mo., and Millie Ward of Belleville; six granddaughters; six grandsons; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her extended family, the residents and staff of Benton Healthcare Center.Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister-in-law, Lillie M. Beard, brother, Donald L Beard, and grandson, William M. Ward
