Rose Ione Parrish, entered this world on April 9, 1915 one hundred years later she left her earthly home passing away at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hillsboro on her 100th birthday.

She was born in Wood County to Matthew and Prudence “Prudy” (Thomas) Haschke at New Lisbon. In 1920 the family moved to the Township of Fountain, Juneau County. She attended the nearby Ferndale School. She married Loris Johnson (later divorcing), 3 children were born to this union Carl, Rose Marie and Stanley “Danny”.

On August 28, 1943, she was united in marriage to Willard “Curly” Parrish. He preceded her in death November 12, 1990. They farmed in the New Lisbon and Mauston area until purchasing a farm near Kendall in 1952. Together they had two sons, Terry and Gary. Rose and Willard were foster parents to 30 children throughout the years. Rose and Willard moved into Kendall in 1969 where she lived until July of 2014 moving than to Heritage Manor, Elroy. Rose worked at various jobs, including Tillman’s, Wilton, Cranberry harvesting, Steele’s Drugstore, Kendall and Brandau’s Auction Barn, Kendall.

Rose was always busy with many hobbies. She truly loved to dance, many times the dance floor was cleared to watch “Curly” and Rose doing the shag. She was a charter member of Jolly Janes Homemakers and various card clubs. She also was a faithful and devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Kendall.

She is survived by a daughter, Rose Clark of Mauston, three sons, Danny (Sharon) Johnson of Friendship, Terry (Linda) Parrish of Kendall, Gary (Teri) Parrish of Brodhead, a daughter-in-law, Arlene Johnson of Wonewoc. She is further survived by 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, foster children, and a very special friend, Ray Schueppner of North Freedom, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Carl Johnson, a son-in-law, Richard A. Clark, 5 brothers, Adolph, Carl M., Alfred, Henry (infant) and Albert, 5 sisters, Iva, Mary, Gertrude, Genevieve (infant) and Ethel.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 13, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 307 Spring Street, Kendall. Father Nelson Graham will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday at the Smith Nelson Funeral Home, Kendall from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the mass. In Lieu of flowers memorial are requested to be given to the Kendall Public Library and the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church P.C.C.W.
