Mr. Butler had been a farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4657 in Pine Bluffs and several other organizations.
Mr. Butler is survived by one son, David Butler of Pine Bluffs; two daughters, Elizabeth Kay Wiedenhaft of Carpenter and Nancy McWilliams of Lakewood, Colo.; two brothers, George Butler of Pine Bluffs and Charles Butler of Thermopolis; three sisters, Ethel Couch, Kathryn Edwards and Marie Nugent, all of Cheyenne; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Couch; his parents, Clayton L. Butler Sr. and Mae Theresa Butler; one brother, Richard Butler; and one sister, Theresa Mae Butler.
