Husband of Mary E. SayreCHESTER — James Sayre, 67, of Indiana Avenue, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at the East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born on Aug. 17, 1939, in Chester, son of the late Okey Sayre, Sr. and Elsie Newland Sayre.

Mr. Sayre had worked at Ohio Brass and at the former T.S & T China in the clay shop.

He was a member of the Open Door Apolstolic Church in Charleston, W.Va., and had attended Chester Schools.

Surviving at home is his wife Mary Reed Sayre, whom he married on Oct. 23, 1971. Also surviving are two sons, Robert Sayre and his wife Kim of Charleston and Brian Sayre at home; a daughter, Mrs. Jennifer Batman and her husband Sam of Dunbar, W.Va.; two brothers, Okey Sayre, Jr. of Chester and Richard Sayre of Columbiana.; three sisters Mrs. Josephine (George) Gibson of Chester, Mrs. Mabel (Frank) White of New Cumberland and Mrs. Mary (Pete) Bowen, also of Chester; and two grandchildren, Christopher & Jordon Sayre.

Pastor Christopher Sowards, of the church, and Rev. James A. Reed, Sr. will lead services at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Friends may visit from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.

The family requests memorial contributions to the St. Mathews Episcopal Church in Chester, in leau of flowers.
