The graveside service for Marguerite Isabell "Peggy" Pech will be at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Brownsboro Cemetery. A potluck will follow at the Eagle Point Senior Center. Memorial donations may be made to the Eagle Point Senior Center.
Mrs. Pech, 86, died Friday (July 5, 1996) at Highland House Nursing Center in Grants Pass. She was born March 27, 1910 in Halfway to William S. and Gracie E. Silkett DeHaas. On Jan. 24, 1933, in Medford, she married Henry E. Pech, who preceded her in death. On their 304-acre ranch, they farmed 60 acres, raised a dairy herd, chicken and pigs, and supplied onions from their vegetable garden to Dell's Hamburgers in Medford. Mrs. Pech cooked for the Eagle Point School District in the late 1940s and early 1950s and was the first cook at North's Chuckwagon (J. J. North's) in Medford. She also cooked for the Methodist Church camp in Lake Creek. She was a spotter for Japanese planes during World War II. Among her hobbies were crocheting, cooking, gardening, wrapping meat, and fishing with her husband and grandchildren.
Survivors include a brother, Kenneth DeHaas, Klamath Falls; two sons, Henry, Central Point, and Jack, Eagle Point; a daughter, Marlene Ellison, Merlin; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and seven step-great grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Eagle Point Community Bible Church, 27 S. Shasta Ave.
