Obituary: Odon Journal, October 13, 1894 - "Catherine Arford nee Bash was born in Stark Co., Ohio May 29, 1812 and died Sunday October 7, 1894, aged eighty-two years, four months and eight days. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom have gone before to give her a welcome home, thirty-six grand children and thirteen great grand children. She was converted and joined the church of the United Brethren in Christ when about twelve years of age thus seventy years of her life were spent in service for Christ. Her father, a brother, two sons and a grand son have been called by God to be ministers of the Gospel. She was a faithful servant for Christ and her home was a resting place for the weary Itinerant and the stranger was never turned away hungry from her door. She was one of the charter members of the Pleasant Hill class. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J. A. Bell at Pleasant Hill church. A large concourse of friends followed her remains to the grave. Remembering that, Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God." [Thanks to Elizabeth A. Dowling, Washington, Daviess Co., IN for providing a copy of the obituary.]
