Mrs. J. B. Lawson, well and favorably known in Clarion county, was born in said county December 1st, A.D. 1805, and died December 15, 1888. In her seventeenth year she united with the Rehoboth Presbyterian church then under the pastoral care of Rev. John Core; was married in 1830, and lived faithful to her vows to both the church and her much loved husband. Her last request to a daughter was, "Take good care of father." Truly goodness and mercy have followed her all the days of her life; living more than four score years, yet in her experience, these were not years of labor and sorrow; all her years were years of health and happiness, and her death a calm and peaceful departure to the better land. What joy must dwell in the maternal heart of one whose "life is hid with Christ in God." Mrs. Lawson lived to see three sons adorning the three leading professions, medical, legal and clerical; also to see her husband represent her native county in the legislative halls, and the Presbytery of Clarion, different times, in the General Assembly of the Presbyterian church; and likewise she had the very great pleasure of knowing that all her children, four sons and five daughters, were lights in the kingdom of Christ. (Poem)
