WM. THOMAS USRY, 71, DIED SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
William Thomas Usry, son of Stephen and Sarah Usry, nee Mitchell, was born south of Pendleton, MO., March 12, 1884. He entered into rest at Warrenton, Saturday, September 17, 1955, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 5 days.
When a young man he moved to St. Louis where he was employed by the St. Louis Cordage Company. Later he served as an operator for the United Railway Company and during that time he was and enthusiastic member of the United Railway Band.
In 1927 he returned to Pendleton where he worked as a carpenter and painter.
About seven years ago his health began to fail and on April 4, 1950, he entered the Katie Jane Memorial Home in Warrenton. Here he spent the remainder of his life.
Mr. Usry was a faithful member of the Pendleton Methodist Church for many years.
He is survived by five sisters; May (Mrs. Louis Wegener) of Warrenton; Mattie (Mrs. J. B. Pruitt) of Kansas City; Anna (Mrs. Robert Meyer) of Kansas City; Bessie (Mrs. D. C. Hader) of Kansas City; Beulah ( Mrs. Darby Meyer) of Belleville, Ill., and one brother, Grover C. Usry, of St. Charles, Mo.,; also surviving are four brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, September 20 at the Nieburg Funeral Home in Warrenton by Rev. Howard Hardeman, his pastor. Mrs. Delmar Backs and Mrs. Marion Albright sang two hymns, accompanied by Miss Ruth Bebermeyer at the organ. Interment was made in the Warrenton Cemetery.
