Etta Lou was the daughter of Pinkney Cullen and Amanda Jane Shaid Gibson. Her parents are buried in New Addition Annex of Palestine City Cemetery. She shares a stone with her husband, Johnnie Edward "Ed" Graves. She died at her home. She was survived by three sisters, Nina Opal Gibson Collins, Elsie Mildred Gibson Gilmore, and Marie Gibson Raines, all of Palestine. Her obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press, Tuesday, 9 December 2002.
