Mrs. Dennis, 72, died of heart failure Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, in Philipp.
She was retired from Leflore County Schools as a janitor. She served as a church president and church mother of Steadfast Church of God in Christ and was a member of the Itta Bena Women's Club.
Mrs. Dennis is survived by her husband, Johnny Dennis of Itta Bena; five daughters, Johnnie M. Mitchell, Emmaline Dennis, Bobbie A. Jackson, Mary Smith and Linda Banks, all of Itta Bena; four sons, Johnny Dennis Jr. of Tacoma, Wa., and Henry Dennis, Sammie Dennis and Tommy Dennis, all of Itta Bena; two brothers, John Gilmore of Greenwood and Clarence Hammond of Los Angeles; one sister, Alice Dickerson of Columbus, Ohio; 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at Century Funeral Home.
Elder James A. Cooper will officiate at the services.
Burial will be in Pitts Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Itta Bena.
