On Friday night, August 8th, shortly before midnight, Cornelius Seipel, old and respected citizen of New Holstein and formerly a resident of the town of Rantoul, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anton Mueller, death being attributed to the infirmities of old age.
The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at the Holy Rosary church at New Holstein, Rev. Steinbrecher officiating with interment in St. Mary’s cemetery in this city. It was largely attended by relatives and friends and the Holy Name society, of which the deceased was a member attended in a body.

Cornelius Seipel, son of the late Adam and Katherine Seipel was born in Bavaria, Germany, on Feb. 15, 1846 and come to this country with his parents when a child of one and one half years of age. His parents settled on a farm in the town of Meeme, Manitowoc County and he grew to young manhood on that farm.
On May 28, 1872 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Schram and immediately after marriage took up residence on a farm in the town of Rantoul, now owned by his son-in-law, Wm. D. Schneider. He and his wife lived there for many years and were blessed with a family of nine children, six of whom are living. Mrs. Seipel preceded her husband in death some fourteen years ago and since that time he has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Anton Mueller of New Holstein and with other sons and daughters.

Cornelius Seipel was a sturdy, honorable type of manhood, one who commanded the respect and admiration of all who knew him intimately. He lived a good life and the world is truly better for his having lived in it.

He is survived by three sons, John of the town of Charlestown, Henry and Nick of Riverside, Cal., and three daughters, Mrs. Fred G. Veit of Appleton, Mrs. Wm. Schneider of Rantoul and Mrs. Anton Mueller of New Holstein.
