Dorothea Charlotte Dietrich, 94, Amery, Wis., passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Amery Regional Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 11, 1915, to Peter and Bertha (Bergman) Thill in Turtle Lake Township, Barron County. Dorothea was baptized at Silver Creek Lutheran Church on Dec. 20, 1915, and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, near Moon Lake, on July 28, 1930.

She grew up in Turtle Lake Township and attended Grant School. As a child she worked at the family's cheese factory.

Dorothea married George Dietrich on April 6, 1938, and they were blessed with four children. They made their home within one mile of her parents' home and cheese factory. She resided there until 2005.

In 2005 at the age of 90, she moved to Golden Age Manor.

She was an excellent cook, using only a woodstove, and was known for making the best cookies. She enjoyed needlework, chickens and also loved flowers, gardening, and canning vegetables. She was often seen driving her '78 Ford pickup, especially on her Sunday drives.

Surviving are her sons, Dean (Lois), Lloyd (Sharon) and Richard (Hope); 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Marian and her husband Bob; a grandson; three great-grandsons; as well as nine brothers and sisters.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, from Immanuel Lutheran Church Silver Creek, with Rev. David Emmons officiating and burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were Albert Eggert, Mark Eggert, Charles Thill, Alfred Thill, Randy Zemke and Dale Scribner.

Visitation was held 4-8 p.m. Thursday from Williamson-White Funeral Home, Amery, and an hour prior to services at the church.
