DOROTHY LUCILLE, daughter of JOSEPH EDDE PIPPIN AND ADA MAY OZBUN PIPPIN, was born at Skiatook, Oklahoma, on May 27, 1911. The family moved to Preston, Missouri, and Dorothy lived much of her youth in Urbana, Missouri. She was baptized and went to the First Christian Church. She graduated from Urbana High School in 1930.

She was married to Phillip LeRoy German on April 21, 1931, at Buffalo, Missouri. They had four children:
1. Elsie Mae born May 14, 1932, in Urbana, Missouri
2. Eddie LeRoy born July 4, 1933, in Preston, Missouri

The family moved to Denver, Colorado.
3. Mary Lou was born January 9, 1935

They moved to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, then to Granite, Colorado, and finally to Buena Vista, Colorado. 4. Phyllis Ann was born on October 24, 1942

Dorothy and Phil owned and operated the Buena Vista Coal Company and a small ranch. They later changed the name to Buena Vista Ice and Coal Company. They moved to town in 1947. They were active members of the business community. Phil passed away May 12, 1956. Dorothy and her son, Edde Lee, continued the business, changing the name to Hi-Way Ice and Coal Company and operating it until 1960. Dorothy also cooked in several restaurants. She was a good cook, and many enjoyed her meals.

Dorothy was a member of the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce and served as secretary-treasurer in 1958-59. She was very friendly and had a pleasant personality. She loved her family and friends.

On March 28, 1967, she married William D. "Andy" Anderson. Their life together was short. He died November 5, 1968. Dorothy's daughter, Elsie Mae, died October 19, 1968.

Dorothy passed away Feb. 12, 1972. She is survived by her children and spouses, Edde and Mary Lou German; Mary and Larry Pfeifer; Phyllis and Paul Stallins; her mother, Ada Mae Pippin, 15 grandchildren, sisters and brother, Mamie Bybee, Ada Jo Edde, Helen Bennett, James Pippin, Eva Flowers and Georgetta Lawrence.
