SAMUEL KILLPACK DIES FOLLOWING STROKE
Samuel Killpack died at the home of his son Will Killpack on Sunday, at the advanced age of eight-one, following a stroke. Mr. Killpack had suffered a previous stroke about two years ago at Sterling, Utah and came to live with his sons here. Mr. Killpack was born in Manti, Utah, September 3, 1859. He married Ingri Marie Funk on November 7, 1885; after her death he married Abigail Ann Brown Porter, on October 28, 1918. She also preceded him in death. He spent most of his life at Sterling, Utah, where he had a home and small farm. He was one of the sturdy pioneers of Utah and has often told the writer of his many rigorous experiences of the time of his youth and young manhood, of the privations and deprivations, coupled with hardships, and with only meager returns, often comparing those times with the present. His viewpoint on life was always kindly, met with an irresistable humor and his fund of information on the early trials of himself and companions made him a most entertaining companion in conversation. Mr. Killpack was the first white child born in Manti outside the fort. With the passing of this aged and venerable man, one more of Utah's stalwart pioneers fades as gently as he wished from the activities of the present generation. His memory will be cherished by a large group of friends who knew and evaluated his sterling worth. He is survived by his sons, Will, Marion, (both of Delta) and Jack of Reno, Nevada, and one daughter, Mrs. Ingle Dennison of Sterling. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister; Jesse Killpack, Ferrin; Frank Killpack, Salt Lake; Eddie Killpack, Provo; and Mrs. Clara Tuttle, Brigham City. He was respected by all who knew him and the sympathy of everyone is extended to the surviving members of the family. Funeral services were held in Sterling Wednesday, and interment was held in the Manti cemetery.
