OBITUARY
CLINTON – Ellis (Barney) F. Summers, 87, son of George W. Summers and Dinah Fuit Summers, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2009 of cause's incidental to age.

He was born October 31, 1921 much to the distress of his aunt who had to leave the Halloween social to help deliver him.

He was a lifelong resident of Clinton, Utah. He enlisted in the Army on December 18, 1942 and served in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. He was stationed in New Guinea, the Philippines and Tokyo, Japan.

He returned to Clinton following the war and began working at Hill Air Force Base. He retired in 1976.

Ellis married Emma Jane Bouwhuis on April 30, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

They had two daughters, Joanne Summers Daniels and Pauline Summers Larsen both of Clinton.

Ellis loved to fish, camp and hunt. His favorite fishing hole was Marsh Lake in the Uinta Mountains. His favorite place to camp was Yellowstone National Park.

He is survived by his wife Emma and his daughters Joanne (Richard) Daniels and Pauline (Brad) Larsen. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Crista (Jason) Sanchez, Lori (Ryan) Bryson, Toni Daniels, Kristoffer (Michelle) Larsen, Kandice (Kyle) Johns and Kimberli (Aaron) Anable. He had seven great-grandchildren.

Ellis was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dinah, three brothers and three sisters and twin grand-daughters, Jennifer and Linsay Larsen.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:45 a.m. 12:45 p.m. prior to services.

Interment, Clinton City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
