Levina was the daughter of Simon Buijze and Leuntje van Drongelen. On November 28, 1867 she married Jacobus de Meester. They came to the USA with their 3 children, traveling on the "Vaderland" from Antwerp to Philadelphia and arriving on 18 August 1873. Jacobus and Lavina settled in Grand Rapids, MI where their remaining 6 children were born and raised.
