He married twice, the first marriage was with Kari Pedersdatter Ingebretson (Rosendahl) and the farm was Vaaja. She was born in Gran at Vaaja. She immigrated to the United States. She died in MN and is buried under the name of Ingebretson. To this union were born four children:
Louise E. Oleson Rosendahl Mrs. Iver Hvinden
Mathilda Josephine Oleson Rosendahl Mrs. Gilbert Gisleberg
Olaus Rosendahl
Emma Caroline Oleson Rosendahl Mrs. Klement Reierson who died young and is buried in MN
