Mary Elizabeth Henderson was born on January 2, 1891 to William Henderson and Dulcena Heckathorn Henderson in East Liverpool, Columbiana County, Ohio. Although there were five children from this marriage, only 3 survived including her twin brother and sister, Emmett George and Rebecca Emma. Her two young brothers, James Harrison and E. Denane died in infancy. Her father died from Spanish Flu when she was just 11 months old. Her mother remarried several more times and she ended up with five stepbrothers and sisters. She lived her entire life in East Liverpool, eventually marrying William Asher Cline on June 30, 1909 at the age of 18. This marriage produced a son, William L. Cline. She died at the age of 81 in East Liverpool.

Mary's father, William, is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery but he has no marker.
