Woodville Examiner, 10 July 1893
We regret to record the death of Mr W. Collis, a well-known Kumeroa settler, who died at the Buffet, Woodville, yesterday. Mr Collis had been a settler at Kumeroa for 10 years, and died at the age of 37(sic).
He leaves a widow, for whom no provision has been made. Deceased went to Napier as a witness in the sheep-stealing case, and while there contracted measles. He had to attend as a witness when ill, and as a result contracted internal disease from which he died. Much sympathy will be felt for the widow
Fanny next married Job Bolton (1830-1900) in 1896
