She was the first child of Walter and Elva Ann (Corbin) Crawford.
She married Robert Pierce April 2 1930.

Lela Luetta Pierce a resident of Columbia County for the past 50 years, died March 18th in a Scappoose care center, She was 82.
Mrs Pierce was born Feb 5, 1911 in Wadena, Iowa to Walter and Elva Crawford. She moved to the local area in 1943 and had worked for many years in the former bag factory in St Helens.
She was a member and past board member of the American Association for Retired Persons (AARP) and had been active in the Scappoose Senior Center. She managed the Senior Center Store for several years and was a recipient of the Scappoose Jaycee Senior Citizens of the Year award. She also was a member of the Scappoose Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxilary.
Her interests included gardening, rock hunting, baking and cooking.
Her husband Robert Pierce died in 1980.
She is survived by her daughters Laura Miller of Scappoose, Shirley Conn of St Helens ; son Robert of Kelso Washington. Sister Marion Smith of Crooked River; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Sunday at the Scappoose Senior Center. Burial was in Columbia Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests rememberances be contributions to the Courtyard fund at the Columbia Care Center in Scappoose.
