Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin Gullerud, 71, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday 5 Feb in the North Viking Lutheran Church with Rev. Elmo Anderson and Rev. E. A. Stousland officiating. Interment was in the Viking Cemetery of rural Maddock. She passed away late Sunday evening in a Jamestown hospital. Pallbearers were Leslie Haugen, Oscar Sundet, Joe Bratvold, Walter Williams, Oscar Carlson and Nels Knatterud. Julia Tufte was born in Willow City, ND on 16 Nov 1892 the daughter of Halvor and Kari Tufte. She moved with her family to Northwood in 1896 where she attended public school and grew to womanhood. She graduated from NDAC around 1917 and from nurses school as a registered nurse around 1926. She worked a special nurse in hospitals in Fargo, Bismarck and Northwood. She met and married Edwin Gullerud in Mahnomen, MN on 16 Apr 1928. Since their marriage she has resided in Maddock. She was a member and past officer of the North Viking Ladies Aid and Auxiliary and a past assistant superintendent of the North Viking Sunday school. Surviving are her husband; one son, Ernest Gullerud of University City, MO; two sisters, Miss Selma Tufte of Phoenix, AZ and Mrs. Harry (Thea) Olson of Minneapolis; six brothers, Edward Tufte of Los Angeles, CA, Carl Tufte of Minneapolis, MN, Hans Tufte, Fred Tufte, Theodore Tufte and Erick Tufte all of Northwood, ND; and two grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents.
