Charlie Asberry Cameron, 79, of Gadsden, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006. He was born Jan. 13, 1926, and would have celebrated his 80th birthday. Mr. Cameron was a loving daddy and grandpa of Scottish descent with a great and unconditional love for his family and his heritage. He was an avid gardner, loved camping with his family at Lake Guntersville and his work and dedication to the city of Gadsden for 53 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and was a true Jeff Gordon fan, enjoyed Auburn and Alabama games with his sons, and loved being with his daughter and family in Chandler, Texas, each Fourth of July to watch the fireworks over Lake Palestine. Mr. Cameron was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Monroe and Beatrice Baker Cameron; daughter, Susan Roberta Cameron; brothers, Hermon and Wilford Cameron; and sister, Ruby Cameron Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ovell Stargell Cameron, 2 daughters, 2 sons, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be all grandchildren.
