They immigrated to America, departing at Bremen, Germany on the ship, "Aller". They arrived in New York on December 24, 1887. The family headed for the Dakota Territory.
The following year, Elizabeth "Lizzie" was born. Five years later William was born.
The family moved to Naper, Nebraska. They had four more children, a set of twin girls, Anna and Amelia, Otto and Freida.
On Sept. 20, 1915, he married Christena Diede at Scotland, South Dakota. They later divorced.
Jacob is survived by two daughters, Mary Anna (Gottlieb) Blakkolb, Anna (Stevens ) Heese and Freida (Joseph) Sipma; and three sons, John (Dora) Hauf, William (Thora) Hauf and Otto (Florence) Hauf.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Elizabeth (Herman) Emme and Amelia (George) Baker.
