Trooper Kevin John Mallon, 24, was killed when his patrol car ran off the road and struck a tree on Delaware Route 16, west of Milton while enroute to an alarm at a photography studio.
Kevin was born on April 25, 1965 in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania to Edward and Betty Mallon. He was a graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School Class of 1983 and Kutztown University, receiving a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 1987. Trooper Mallon was employed at the Chester County Juvenile Detention Center until his appointment to the Delaware State Police in July, 1989.
Kevin enjoyed all sports and especially liked the Philadelphia Eagles.
Trooper Kevin John Mallon was laid to rest, on a snowy afternoon, March 24, 1990, in the cemetery at St. Thomas The Apostle, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. Hundreds of troopers from many states attended his funeral to pay their respects, many of them standing outside in the snow so that other mourners could huddle in the small church for the service.
Kevin is deeply missed but his mother, Betty, stepfather, Richard, and his brother and sister, Ed and Kathleen, as well as his Delaware State Police family.
