Minerva Elizabeth Pierce, 91, of 7040 LaPorte Road, formerly of Arlington, died Monday, January 9, at Covenant Medical Rehabilitation Center, Waterloo, after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 29, 1903, in Wadena, daughter of Henry and Lillian Miller Lockard. She married Russell Pierce on October 12, 1921 in Arlington, he died March 3, 1963.

Mrs. Pierce and her husband farmed in the Arlington area for many years. She also worked at the Arlington Locker.

Survived by four daughters, June Olsen of Talent, Oregon, Dorothy McLavey of Tripoli and Wanda Buhr and Charlotte Hoffman, both of Waterloo; a son, Raymond of Arlington; 28 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Lockard of Oelwein and Merle Lockard of Readlyn and a sister, LaVerle Corbin of Wapata, Washington.

Preceded in death by two sons, Harold and Darrell; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; two sisters, Alice and Martha; and four brothers, William, John, Jesse and Adrian Lockard.

Services noon Friday at Calvary Bible Independent Baptist Church, Washburn with burial in Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.
