John Ammann died at ? Monday morning at the family residence on Cantrell street. His death was caused by paralysis. He was stricken first thirteen weeks ago and the second stroke ? last night. Mr. Amman was sixty years old and was well known to most people in Decatur. He was born in Zurich, Switzerland, Jan 2? 1859. He came to America when he was only five years old. The family came almost directly to Decatur and he has lived here ever since. He was associated with his father and brothers in the brick manufacturing business until two years ago when he retired on account of his health.
He and Miss Barbara Prince were married in Decatur March 3, 1883. She and three children survive him.
The children are Mrs. Irene Rubicam, Miss Pearl Ammann, and Irvin, Ammann all of Decatur. Irvin has been in San Diego, Cal. and is now his way home. He also leaves his father Conrad Ammann of Decatur, sister Mrs. Anna Niedermeyer of Bloomington and three brothers, Henry Ammann of Wichita Falls, tex., Albert Ammann of Los Angles Cal. and Will Ammann of Decatur. Albert Ammann is confined in his room in Los Angeles by an attack of rheumitism and will not be able to attend the funeral.
Mr. Ammann was a member of the German Methodist church and also of the ?, Knights of Pythias. He was well liked by all who knew him.
Arrangements for the funeral will not be completed until the arrival of Irvin Ammann from California.
