Henry James Benson, son of Bert and Rebecca Benson, was born in Turner County, SD on Mar. 9, 1886 and passed away at Vancouver, WA on Jul. 1, 1950.

On Mar. 9, 1911 he was united in marriage to Christine Buckstead.

To this union three children were born; Earl, who passed away at the age of 4 years, Lloyd and Lorraine (Mrs. Glenn Freimuth).

Henry was reared on a farm and he and his wife farmed in Norway Township for several years. In 1939 they moved to Hurley, SD, where they made their home until 1945. They then moved to Vancouver, WA, where he was employed by the California Packing Co.

Henry was apparently in good health, going to work the morning of July 1. He had worked about 15 minutes when he was suddenly stricken with a heart attack and passed away immediately.

He leaves to mourn, his beloved companion; one son, Lloyd of Ellensburg, WA; one daughter (Lorraine) Mrs. Glenn Freimuth of Vancouver, WA; four grandchildren; four brothers, Herbert H, Dewey, Harry L. and Allen W., all of Hurley, SD; five sisters, Mrs. Carrie Jensen of Minneapolis, MN; Mrs. Anne Woelz of Whitewood, SD; Miss Mary Jane Benson of Sioux City, IA; Mrs. Clifford Thomas of Lead; Mrs. Izora Remine of Des Moines.

One son, his parents and a sister preceded him in death.
