Maria married Simon Frederick Van Patten 7-11-1777 by Rev. Barent Vrooman. She is the daughter of John B. and Jacomyntje(Jemima)(Van Dyck) Wendel. Maria is the great granddaughter of Evert Wendel of Albany, NY. The Wendel Coat of Arms was in a stained glass window of the Old Albany Dutch Church, Albany, NY now lost. Her stone was saved by Don Keefer and Greg Van patten from the Old Van Patten burial ground on Barhydt Rd. in 1962. At the Van Patten old family burial ground she and her husband had slate head and foot fieldstones now missing?
Maria and Simon Frederick's fieldstone markers are put here with two of their great grandchildren stones which are also deteriorating.
