Son of Barney Hupka and Julia Kerner. He attended St. Mary Parochial School through the eight grade. Sterling High School 9-10 and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1945.
He enlisted Jan. 19, 1945 in the service and honorable discharged on July 23, 1946. as a Ship's Cook Third Class during WWII. He received the Victory Medal, American Area Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal for his time of service.
He married Ellen Geraldine Murphey on April 26, 1949 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, NE. they celebrated 60 yars of marriage in 2009.
He was a farmer. A lifelong member of the Catholic Church. They had one son, Steve and wife Barb.
Funeral services were held at the St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Mary, NE. Interment was in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, St. Mary, NE. with full military honors.
