Well Known Citizen of Green Valley will Be Buried This Afternoon
Funeral service for Joseph W. Barlow, 81, who died at his home on Tuesday, September 18, following a prolonged illness will be held at the home the afternoon at 2 p.m. by Rev. Eugene Brown of Mountain City, Tenn., a lifelong friend of Mr. Barlow, and Rev. paul Heafner, pastor of the Green Valley Methodist church. Burial will be in the Green Valley cemetery with the Ashler Masonic Lodge conducting gradeside rites.
Mr. Barlow was a retired lumber inspector for the J. Walter Wright Lumber Company and in his later years had been engaged in farming. He lived for several years at Todd,returning to spend his later years at Green Valley. He was a member of the Green Valley Methodist Church. He always took an active interest in the civic welfare of teh county and community, and was well versed in the affairs of the state and nation. He was a member of the Ashler Masonic Lodge, having served as a master of the lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lola Payne Barlow of the home; one daughter, Miss Margaret Barlow, teacher in the Central School, Bristol, Tenn; and two sons, James E. Barlow, who is affiliated with Burlington Mills in Bristol, and Quayle H. Barlow of Parksburn, Penn; three grandsons; two brothers, L.A. Barlow of Georgetown, Ohio and T.E. Barlow of Green Valley, and two sisters, Mrs. Alex Wilson and Mrs. Conley Wilson of Green Valley.
