ELLA MAE BOYD HOOKER, 77, of Memphis, retired homemaker, widow of Marvin Pete Hooker and member of Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother Board, died on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Mid South Health & Rehab Center. Visitation Friday, October 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Harrison's Funeral Home Chapel, 2647 Carnes Avenue. She will lie in state on Saturday, October 17 from 10-10:55 a.m. at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 394 Vance Avenue, with funeral ceremony at 11 a.m. Interment Historic Elmwood Cemetery, 824 So. Dudley. She leaves to cherish her life and legacy, her sons, Michael (Diane) Hooker, Tyrone Hooker and Mal (Rosemary) Hooker; her daughters, Patricia (Dr. Tommie) Campbell of Fayetteville, NC and Peggy (Zackary) Jones; five brothers, Lee Ernest Boyd, M. C. (Manile) Boyd, J. C. (Lois) Boyd, Junior (Betty) Boyd and James Boyd; one sister, Emma Jean (Rev. Eugene deceased) Conner; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; her uncle, Jake Boyd; her aunt, Pearlie Mae Boyd and a host of other relatives and friends.
