Funeral services were conducted at the Alba Baptist Church Tuesday, June 5, 1962, for Mr. John D. Blizzard, 85, with the Rev. L. C. Vermillion of Hainesville, a long-time friend, officiating. Interment was in the City Cemetery at Emory under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Alba. Pall bearers were Delroy Russell, T. B. Hooton, Jodie Hil, T. L. Stovall, A. P. Painter and Albert Gilley.
Mr. Blizzard died Sunday night, June 3, after a long illness. Born May 1, 1877, in Alabama, his family first relocated to Mississippi, then he came to Alba in 1902 and had lived there since. He served as postmaster and was a merchant there for many years before his retirement. He was married to Velma Elliott McMillon June 4, 1916. He had been a Christian for a number of years and had been a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors included his wife, one sister of Mississippi, and several nieces and nephews.
