HUGH DEL BROWNING, 76, a former City detective, died at 1:23 p.m. Sunday at SS. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. He lived at 2309 W. Broadway. Browning, a native of New Hope, Ky., was a detective from 1905 to 1909. He was a lumber inspector for the old Inman Furniture Company here 25 years before retiring 10 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Boward and Mrs. Evelyn McCullough; two sons, Thomas M. and William W. Browning; a sister, Mrs. Helen Tatum, Memphis; a brother, Joseph A. Browning; 19 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dougherty Funeral Home, 3237 W. Broadway, and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
