For many years, Peggy served as the tax collector, treasurer, town clerk and school board member for the town of Otis. She vacated these positions when she and her husband bought the original Otis General Store and rebuilt it in its current location.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Phillip Kane of Otis; son, Blaine Salsbury and wife, Sandy; daughter, Sheila McManus and husband, Bill, all of Otis; grandchildren, Amanda Salsbury of Bar Harbor, Jason Salsbury and wife, April, of Waltham, Megan Morse of Otis, and Robert Morse of Mount Desert; great-granddaughter, Leah Salsbury; many cousins who were like the brothers and sisters she never had, and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Errold Salsbury.
Calling hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, with Pastor Cliff Cain officiating. Interment will be immediately after at Evergreen Cemetery, Otis. (Bangor Daily News 10/13/2009)
