Born March 22, 1923 in Blytheville, he was the son of the late Emy E. Hawkins and Emma Cotner Hawkins. He was a retired Service Station Manager, Veteran of the Army during World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church in Steele.
Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis Carter of Steele, two grandsons, Millard Earl Carter and Jesse Glen Carter, both of Steele, one brother Alvin Hawkins; one sister, Jeanetta Hawkins Pierce; four great grandsons and one great granddaughter, niece and nephew and lots of friends.
Graveside services were held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 18 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Bro. Ralph Amerson officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
