"Ellen Griffin
LAKE WYLIE, S.C. Ms. Ellen Eades Griffin, 54, of 4653 Island Forks Road, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Gaston Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late John and Thelma Teague Eades. She was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Gastonia and taught at Ashbook High School for more than 23 years, where she was heavily involved in student activities.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Hilton K. Eades.
She is survived by a stepmother, Cecilia Eades of Shelby, a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Julie Griffin of Fort Mill, S.C.; a son, Adam Griffin of Gastonia; a fiance, Gary Short of Lake Wylie; a former husband, Allen Griffin of Shelby; a brother, Steve Eades of Cumming, Ga.; two stepsisters, Jo Wentzel of Charlotte and Jean Cabiness of Shelby; a loving niece, Leigh Eades of Zebulon; and two grandchildren, Noah and Luke Griffin of Fort Mill. She also leaves behind a large and extended family of friends, neighbors and students who gave her much-needed support and prayer during her illness.

The funeral will be private with the Rev. Olin Byrum III officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church in Gastonia.
