Indianapolis, Aug. 29--The drug with which Howard Pitezel was killed before his body was burned in the big stove in the Irvington cottage was found to-day. A part of a bottle of cyanide of potassium was found buried in the barn. Boys digging under the Holmes house in an unfinished portion of the cellar found the two feet of Howard Pitezel. They had been burned but not destroyed, and were evidently too bulky to put into the chimney hole. With the feet was found buried a five-quart can. There was some coal oil in it. All the witnesses were before the coroner and the grand jury to-day. The grand jury is hearing testimony, and will return an indictment against Holmes.
Philadelphia, Aug. 29--News from Indianapolis that the supposed body of young Howard Pitezel had been located in the chimney of a house in the suburbs of that city was conveyed to H. H. Holmes by his attorney. Holmes did not waver in his claim that Howard Pitezel had been left in the care of Hatch and Minnie Williams on October 10 last. [Pittsburg Daily Post (PA), 30 Aug 1895]
