Harold F. Turk age 82 of Petoskey, died October 7, 2009 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital.
Harold was born on March 2, 1927 in Petoskey, the son of Floyd and Bertha (Nelson) Turk and was raised in Petoskey. He entered the US Navy in 1943 and served his country as a Seaman 1st Class while stationed at Pearl Harbor.

On October 23, 1948, Harold married Marion Johannsen in Petoskey.

Harold worked as an independent truck driver and in road construction for Johnson & Greene and Hodgkiss & Douma. He was also proud to have worked on the road surface during the construction of the Mackinac Bridge. Harold later worked for the Emmet County Road Commission as a purchasing agent and retired in 1988.

Harold enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and waterskiing. He was often in his workshop engineering solutions and making repairs. He was a member of the Elks and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

Harold is survived by his wife, Marion; 5 children, Kathy (Richard) Burton of Highland Park, MI, Sally (Jerry) Kaaiakamanu of Hilo, HI, John (Tami) Turk of Petoskey, Norma Turk of Petoskey, and Lois (Dean) Ellis of Negaunee, MI; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Burton, Sarah and Amy Kaaiakamanu, and Daniel and David Ellis; and by 2 sisters, Velma Wood and Rosalie Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 brothers, Vercel and Merlin Turk.

A private family gathering is planned.

Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
