Rev. Samuel P. McDaniel was the son of Joseph H. McDaniel/McDannel/McDonnel/McDonald and Elizabeth Jane Edwards McDaniel. After his adventures as a Confederate soldier (he left various written accounts of his life and they tell about some narrow escapes--he had flashing eyes when he got enthused and could really tell a story, according to his granddaughter Eleanor Jane Robinson Collins), he married Eleanor Jane Wood on 11 Oct 1866 in Pettis County, Missouri. He taught school and eventually became a pastor in the Disciples of Christ or Christian Church (Campbellites). Children: Abbie (Mrs. William H. Bassett)(1867-1965), Dora (Mrs. T.L. Robinson)(1869-1954)(Belton Cemetery), Charles (1872-1891), Albert "Jack" (187?-1954), Harry (1877-1879), Eleanor "Ella" (Mrs. Fred W. Hoover)(1880-1928), Samuel Pemberton (1882-1957)(Holden Cemetery, Holden, MO), Emma (Mrs. Charles P. Heinrichs)(1884-1968)(Resurrection Cemetery, West Jefferson City, MO), Jean (Mrs. Harry B. Russell)(1887-1974).
